Start building in a few simple steps
From your first setup to a complete Pay by Bank journey, Wetapo is designed to make the path to integration clear.
Here's what the typical journey from initial integration to accepting bank payments looks like.
From idea to integration
You don't need to redesign your entire payment stack to introduce Pay by Bank.
Start by deciding where bank payments should appear in your customer journey and how Wetapo should interact with the systems you already operate.
For a merchant, this may be another payment option at checkout. For a PSP, Pay by Bank may become another payment method available through an existing merchant integration. For a fintech, the payment journey may be embedded directly within a broader product experience.
Your integration journey
01 — Define your payment flow
Decide where Pay by Bank fits into your existing customer experience. Consider when the payment should be created, what information your systems need and what should happen when the payment journey reaches different stages.
02 — Connect your application
Connect your backend to Wetapo and establish the interaction between your application and the payment service. Your integration becomes the bridge between your existing systems and the Pay by Bank journey.
03 — Create a payment
Your application creates the payment journey using the relevant transaction information. The customer can then continue to bank selection and authorisation.
04 — Complete the customer journey
The customer selects their bank and authenticates through the banking environment provided as part of the payment flow. They review the payment information and authorise the transaction directly through their bank.
05 — Follow payment status
Your systems follow the payment status to decide what the customer sees and what happens next internally.
06 — Prepare for launch
Once your integration and customer journey have been tested, your team can prepare the implementation for a live environment.
Think beyond the payment button
A good Pay by Bank integration isn't just about adding another button to checkout. Consider the complete customer journey:
What happens before payment?
How does the customer reach Pay by Bank?
What happens during payment?
What information does the customer need to see?
What happens after payment?
Where should the customer return?
What happens in your backend?
How should your systems react when payment status changes? Thinking about these questions early makes the integration cleaner for both your developers and your customers.
